I cut the bottom of these stairs off while we were making a new floor in the basement. Someday I will replace the stairs completely, but I made these temporary patch stairs until that day comes. It's a funny balance to walk. The nicer I make these the longer they take, but also the less I'm inclined to get on to the project of replacing the whole staircase. But if I make them crappy then I have to walk on them all the time.
